Recently I’ve posted a story on how Rock Band will compare to the all mighty Guitar Hero.  And then Guitar Hero goes and announces that they will not only rock your PS2’s and 3’s as well as the amazing Wii, but it will also be available for the PC and Mac.  How are we ever going to get work done if you can play Guitar Hero III all day?!?  There will be a USB friendly controller and enough songs to rock your face off…..what now Rock Band?

For those of you who are Guitar Hero fans and are anxious to see how the game Rock Band will compare, you’ll have to wait since Viacom denied YouTube the right to have the “sneak peek” up. But below you will find the play list of what you can play as an “imaginary” band:

Blue Oyster Cult “Don’t Fear the Reaper” (Master)
The Who “Won’t Get Fooled Again” (Master)
David Bowie “Suffragette City” (Master)
Black Sabbath “Paranoid” (Cover)
The Ramones “Blitzkrieg Pop” (Master)
Mountain “Mississippi Queen” (Cover)
Bon Jovi “Wanted Dead or Alive” (Master)
Rush “Tom Sawyer” (Cover)
Nirvana “In Bloom” (Master)
Stone Temple Pilots “Vasoline” (Master)
Weezer “Say It Ain’t So” (Master)
The Hives “Main Offender” (Master)
The Strokes “Reptilla” (Master)
Queens of the Stone Age “Go with the Flow” (Master)
Foo Fighters “Learn to Fly” (Master)
Metallica “Enter Sandman” (Master)
Deep Purple “Highway Star” (Master)
Faith No More “Epic” (Master)
Jet “Are You Gonna Be My Girl” (Master)
OK Go! “Here It Goes Again (Master)
Radiohead “Creep” (Master)
The Rolling Stones “Gimme Shelter” (Master)
The Clash “Should I Stay or Should I Go” (Master)
The Smashing Pumpkins “Cherub Rock” (Master)
Beastie Boys “Sabotage” (Master)
Nine Inch Nails “The Hand That Feeds” (Master)
Garbage “I Think I’m Paranoid” (Master)
Pixies “Wave of Mutilation” (Master)
Yeah Yeah Yeahs “Maps” (Master)
Hole “Celebrity Skin” (master)

Right off the bat you will notice that they aren’t all covers as was and is Guitar Hero. Furthermore, they are trying their hardest to dip their hands into the “Indy” scene while still covering the classics. According to Wired, the game will also include down loadable Grateful Dead songs so you can get your Jerry on. Other down loadable goodies will include Metallica, full album of Never mind and Who’s Next.

I can see the budding wannabes all across the nation….

As we all know, Dragonforce plan old shreds. Take a look at this supposed first glance at Dragonforce’s “Through the Fire and Flames” on Guitar Hero III. Think you can take it on? It would be quite hilarious to see the dude in the band play the video game version. Even better would be if he couldn’t beat it….

If you thought the first round of bands listed on Guitar Hero III tracklist wasn’t awesome enough as is, then you will be happy to know that it will also feature Pearl Jam’s “EvenFlow” and Priestess’ “Lay Down.”

Guitar Hero 3 Announced | Song Listing is Awesome May 23, 2007

Posted by James in Rock, Video Games.

Everybody COOL likes Guitar Hero. It’s fun as hell to play, especially if you can get into it and rock the fuck out. Guitar Hero 1 & 2 have been great and the series in general clearly has franchise written all over it. Eventually, I would assume that they will get to a point where you can just download new songs to play off the online set-up of whatever console you have. However, for the time being, they’re going to milk the new game teet until it’s bone dry.

They’ve already announced the release of Guitar Hero 80s Edition to be released on June 4th. It kind of doesn’t seem all that exciting but I’m sure people (see also: me) will still buy it. Playing Surrender by Journey can only stay interesting for so long. Especially if you don’t have the patience to bother getting good at Hard or Expert levels. However, those of us that may not be that into the 80s Edition, won’t have to wait too long for Guitar Hero 3 stocked with (in my opinion) the best selection of songs yet. Add to that online play, a wireless guitar and a version released for the Wii and Guitar Hero nerds have their mana. Follow the jump for the official press release with the released listing of awesome songs that you can look forward to shredding! (more…)
